A Louis Vuitton...in Paris??
I am going to buy a Louis Vuitton in Paris. What a thought.
This decision goes completely against my nature and normal tendencies and everything people know and think about me. I am a fairly frugal person and find the price of these purses to be outrageous and a little bit crazy. I also have never thought the designs were particularly pleasing to the eye. I have had opportunity in the past to purchase one due to living in Las Vegas Nevada and having access to multiple LV stores. So why now? Because if you are going to get a Louis Vuitton, shouldn’t you get one in Paris? And if you are in Paris, shouldn’t you come home with a Louis Vuitton? It seems logical to me.
Last year, I had two experiences that got me thinking about this. One, a peer of mine, male, pointed out a coworkers LV bag. He told me he liked it so much he wanted to get this for his wife. This started a discussion on how to obtain one. He wanted this specific style and it was limited so he was looking at resale sites to try and find it. I checked out the bag and it was pretty sweet- white with colorful lettering, versus the brown traditional that I find so distasteful. He told me a few months later that someone had found the purse for him after much searching and then told me the cost. As a resale, it was jaw dropping shocking to me. But it was a beautiful bag and over a year later, I can still visualize it.
Second, in a different time frame with a different group of people, a comment was made about one of the ladies in attendance flying to Paris to buy her Louis Vuitton. There was a lot of laughter and bit of a Diva connotation to the discussion. Everyone thought this was extreme. I just thought…. How cool. To own one is one thing, but really to say you got yours from the birth city of this couture item is at a different level altogether. A lot of people own LV items, some real and some fake, but how many people, outside of the French, can say they have one from Paris?
Our next big trip is to Spain, a country I have wanted to visit for many years. There are direct flights from Bogota to Madrid that make it easier for us to get there. But on the way back, from Barcelona…. You go through France. France wasn’t an original part of the travel plans… but if you get a chance to go to Paris, do you really turn it down? And if you are in Paris, shouldn’t you get a Louis Vuitton?
Stay tuned… this journey begins in March.
